National NCTS prices in EUR, including VAT. The full-test and equipment-retest fees took effect on 1 January 2025 according to NCTS. Rechecked on 16 September 2026.

These charges cover the test or booking change only. Repairs, recovery and commercial alert subscriptions are not included.

NCT cancellation terms specify Monday–Friday, excluding the test day. Ask NCTS about a change exactly on the notice boundary before confirming.

National NCT charges, not garage repair prices

The table shows the NCTS national test charges in euro. Full-test and equipment-retest prices include VAT; the FAQ states that these test prices took effect on 1 January 2025. They were still published when checked on 16 September 2026. Garage preparation, repairs, transport and third-party alerts are separate services.

Pay in the official booking flow

Online booking requires payment of the relevant fee. NCTS confirms the appointment by email after successful processing. Keep the payment receipt; a debit alone should not be used to guess the centre, date or test type. The official payment screens determine which cards can be used for that transaction.

An unfinished payment is not a permanent hold

The prepayment FAQ gives a 15-minute payment window and says a booking left with incomplete payment is cancelled after half an hour. Check any on-screen message and your email if the process is interrupted. Contact NCTS where payment and confirmation disagree rather than making repeated payments blindly.

Cancellation and rearrangement are different outcomes

Cancelling a prepaid booking with sufficient notice leads to a refund. Rearranging with sufficient notice moves the prepayment to the new booking, as described in the prepayment FAQ for the same test centre. Less notice brings the published charge. Ask NCTS about changing centres instead of assuming every transfer follows the same rule.

If you present a different vehicle

The prepayment FAQ says the other vehicle needs a new payment, while the booked vehicle that was not presented incurs the applicable no-show deduction. Contact NCTS in advance if you entered the wrong registration or need to change the vehicle.

Resolve a payment query with the operator

For a suspected incorrect charge, use NCTS customer service at [email protected]. Include the registration, contact details and an explanation of the charge, as the official FAQ requests. Keep full card numbers and security codes out of email. This directory receives no part of your test payment.

Full test, prepaid, then cancelled late

With the published €60 test fee and €24 deduction, the remaining refund is €36. This arithmetic applies to that stated late-cancellation scenario, not every refund dispute.

Equipment retest, prepaid, then cancelled late

With a €40 equipment-retest fee and €16 deduction, the remaining refund is €24. A free visual inspection is a different case.

Common questions

Does the test fee buy a full year or two years of validity?

The fee pays for the inspection. Certificate duration depends on the vehicle’s due date and testing circumstances, so a late test can leave a shorter validity period.

Is a visual retest always €40?

No. A return that needs no test equipment is free under the published rules; observe the retest deadlines.

Are repair costs included?

No. The table covers NCTS test and appointment charges, not work performed by your garage.
